An open stone archway at dusk, the threshold between the city you know and the one waiting beyond

A written adventure for the city you thought you knew.

The famous streets are only the cover. Behind them, a story waits in your phone's browser, one fair price for everyone who walks it with you. Walk with a chapter in hand, and the city rearranges itself around you.

What this is

A story you step inside, not a tour you trail behind.

Urban Quest Adventures is a written city adventure you set off on whenever you like. Each one is woven into the real history of the place it's set in, then threaded through the streets you walk, so the story and the city move together. It runs in your phone's browser, with nothing to download and no guide to follow. Most take somewhere between ninety minutes and three hours, unhurried, at your own pace, and a quest is one flat price however many of you walk it. No tour, no quiz dressed up as an app. The place is the plot.

Not the usual

What it isn't

  • A spy thriller that would run the same in any city
  • An escape room moved out onto the street
  • A scavenger hunt dressed up as a story

What it is

  • A story grown from this city's own history
  • The streets themselves are the room
  • A question only this place could think to ask
A single seed on aged parchment, fine ink roots spreading from it into the lines of an old hand-drawn street map.

Where a quest comes from

No two adventures share a plot — each one grows from what its city already holds

01

The plague year, 1517

The lower tier of Marienplatz's Glockenspiel turns daily to the Schäfflertanz — a coopers' dance first sworn after the city outlasted the plague of 1517. The same guilds left their emblems on the Viktualienmarkt maypole. This quest reads the dance, the maypole's symbols and the old market layout as one buried trail through the guild quarter, last walked the year the dance began.

Comedy × Historical × Family

02

Radio Free Europe's Munich years

Through the Cold War, Radio Free Europe broadcast into the Eastern Bloc from its Munich bureau, while Schwabing sheltered an émigré community the other side was watching closely — until a 1981 bombing tore through the building. Several café addresses from those years still stand on Ainmillerstraße and Leopoldstraße. This quest threads a broadcast schedule through them, one Schwabing address at a time.

Cold War × Espionage × Suspense

03

Freddie Mercury's Munich decade

Freddie Mercury lived in Munich from 1979 to 1985 and filmed "Living on My Own" at a Glockenbachviertel club on his 39th birthday. A few districts east, Donna Summer and Giorgio Moroder were building electronic disco at the Musicland Studios in Bogenhausen. This quest follows the line between the homes, the studios and the haunts, tracing a queer-creative geography that ran clear across the Isar.

Music × Drama × Historical

These three were drawn from a single city; every city on the map carries its own.

Behind the quests

Meet the Chronicler

Every quest is written by the Chronicler — a historian who retired on paper and kept working anyway. He and his dog have been collecting the city's stories for longer than either of them cares to admit.

Letters from the Chronicler

Sent when something on the desk is worth the envelope. Quest previews, hidden stories, the occasional discount — no more often than that.
